UPDATE (8 AM 2/2/2022): A winter storm with widespread light to moderate snow will continue to affect the region today through early Thursday. All area schools are canceled today.

Some locally higher amounts may occur. Be prepared for hazardous travel, snow-covered roads, and blowing and drifting of snow.

As of 6 a.m. today, Arkansas City has received 2 inches of sleet and snow, plus 0.02 inch of ice from freezing rain.

A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect for the area through 6 a.m. Thursday.


A winter storm will impact the entire Arkansas City area with accumulating snow, beginning tonight through Thursday morning.

Most locations will see 5 to 7 inches of snow, with lighter amounts of 3 to 5 inches possible along I-70 and heavier amounts of 5 to 8 inches across southeast Kansas.

A Winter Storm Warning is in effect from 9 PM Tuesday, Feb. 1 until 6 AM Thursday, Feb. 3. Plan for hazardous travel throughout Wednesday!

Wind chills will drop as low as minus-15 degrees Wednesday night into Thursday morning.
