Equal Opportunity and Accessibility Advisory Board

Municipal Code Part II, Chapter 2, Article III, Division 4 The Accessibility Advisory Board and Human Relations Commission were merged to create one new board in June 2016. 

This new Equal Opportunity and Accessibility Advisory Board adopted the duties and requirements of the Retired Citizens Advisory Council in August 2020. This board shall ensure the benefits of the Americans with Disabilities Act and Title VI of the Civil Rights Act to citizens of the City.

The board shall act in an advisory capacity on accessibility issues. Between five (5) and seven (7) members are appointed by the Mayor with the consent of the Board of City Commissioners. 

At least two (2) members must have a disability or be relatives or primary caretakers of persons with disabilities. 

At least two (2) members must be at least 60 years of age. 

Those with experience working with disabled or retired and senior citizens or expertise in accessibility issues shall be given preference. 

Terms are three (3) years long.
